Installation Guidelines: Weep Holes

WEEP HOLES
The lower perimeter pieces for both sloped or vertical glazing should have weep holes drilled through the bottom (use the weep hole started groove as a guide). Drill a 3/16” hole through the bottom and through the center screw channel approximately every 18”. On wider panels, you may also wish to drill a 1/8” hole under the upper gasket channel to supplement the drainage of condensate (in addition to the side drainage channels discussed in the FLASHING section). This hole is made by the use of a 1/8” bit through the 3/16” weep hole. When drilling weep holes in the Thermal Break material it may be necessary to fill the bottom of the extrusion with sealant if the drill bit cuts through the bottom of the thermal break material.

If using thermal break you may cut through the insulating material when you drill the weep hole. Be sure to have blind flashing beneath the perimeter pieces as detailed above. It is not necessary to fill the hole as any moisture will run down over the blind flashing.
