Installation Guidelines: Glazing System Layout

GLAZING SYSTEM LAYOUT
It is important to follow recommended system layouts for best results. You will find illustrations of these layouts for both base and cap extrusions on Illustrations 4-6 of these Guidelines. Note that base and cap cuts are often different, with butt cuts used in base layouts to allow for proper drainage and miter cuts used in cap to provide a weather-tight, good looking installation. Also note that vertical and overhead installations are laid out differently. When measuring and cutting SureSeal keep in mind that the cap and base are of different widths. Intermediate extrusion locations, for example, require the cap to be 7/16” longer than the base.

We do not recommend overhead use of Sure Seal with a slope less than 3/12. We are aware of many installations with less than this slope but extreme care must be taken in flashing and sealant details to prevent leakage. If uncertain about your application consult your local architect, roofer, or contractor for details on how to properly flash your roof. Also read the flashing information here.
