CUTTING
& DRILLING SURE SEAL
Cutting an irregular shape such as an aluminum extrusion should be
approached with caution. We have found the best results using a 10” power
miter saw equipped with a non-ferrous cutting carbide tipped blade.
This blade is designed to be used for extrusions with wall thickness
of 1/4” or greater. You should use this blade for best results.
Blades designed to cut sheet products will destroy themselves on extrusions.
Insert trim strip into cap and cut both at the same time for most accurate
results.
High speed drill bits work well in drilling screw holes in SureSeal,
but will dull fairly quickly unless run at a low speed. Spare bits are
a good idea. Screw hole locations require a small amount of planning.
Both cap bolts and base screws share the same screw race so avoid drilling
holes in the same location. We suggest you start the base screws 2” from
the ends and place them approximately 14” to 18” apart. Screw
holes in the cap should be started 1” from each end. Prior to drilling
it is suggested that you place the cap and base side by side and check
the placement of the markings to prevent the holes from overlapping.
If you should incorrectly frill a hole in the cap, fill the hole with
sealant before installing the trim strip. |
